Seems unfair. Some of Amazon’s best deals of the year are available during the Prime Day event, but access to those deals requires paying $119 for a one-year membership.

free trial
Good news! If you have not been an Amazon Prime member in the past 12 months, you are eligible for a 30-day free trial. Just look for the big yellow “Try Prime” button.
Only bought for a month
If you don’t qualify for a free trial, one approach is to purchase a Prime membership for just one month. After all, if you really only want access for a few days, a one-month membership should work for you. ONE monthly membership will set you back $12.99. That’s low enough that if you only get free shipping on a few products, it will pay for itself.
But you can do better.
Eligible for student discount and free trial
If you are a student and a new member, you can have a free six-month trial, then pay $6.49 a month if you decide to continue the service. That’s $77 a year instead of $119. And you wonder why adults always say, “Stay in school”.
Discounts for recipients of government assistance
If you are participating in one of the eligible government assistance programs including SNAP, WIC and TANF, you can get Prime membership for half price. That brings the cost down to $5.99 a month. That may still be a lot to bite, but at least it is something.

Just remember to cancel any free trials before the 30 days are up if you don’t want to be a member, otherwise you’ll have to pay for Bezos’ rocket fuel.
