Danville, Father. – Please see PETA primatologist and scientific advisor Dr Lisa Jones-Engel’s statement about At least 4 monkeys fled after crashing a truck carrying 100 monkeys to the laboratory:
As these 100 macaques headed to a laboratory to be locked up, tortured and killed, they were in danger – but now so is the public. The four people who escaped must have been extremely scared and potentially injured, and they may have been harboring a virus that could be transmitted to humans. There is no way to guarantee that monkeys don’t have the virus, and state veterinary records and other records show that monkeys in US labs have been found to have tuberculosis, Chagas disease, description and MRSA. The only way to ensure that the pathogen does not pass from monkeys to humans is to stop importing, keeping and testing these animals.
