At the beginning of June, Ford announced they wanted help naming a dark package for the 2023 Mustang – the plan was to find something better than the package’s current name of “Black Accent Package”. Ford hasn’t announced a decision on a name, but the automaker has Brand term “Dark Horse” in the US, Europe, Australia and New Zealand on June 22nd. Looks like the itch isn’t over yet.
The company took to Twitter and Instagram to let the community know that out of the more than 25,000 replies received, “There are too many good-name articles for the Mustang Black Accent Package (thank you!), so we need it! your help again” and asked, “What’s your favorite?” The four finalists are like three bands and one indie singer-songwriter: Nite Pony, Shadow Stallion, Shadowmare and Alastor. Anyone with an opinion should visit the tweet or Instagram post and leave a comment.

Then we figured all we had to do was wait. The contest originally ended in June, we don’t know when the automaker will make a decision on the second round of voting. We think people want something by September 14th, which is when the next-generation Mustang debuts in Detroit. Car show. Submitting community resources for the S550 Mustang would make a great opening for the heavily reworked S650 Mustang.
As a reminder, the name chosen describes a small package that includes black exterior emblems and 18-inch aluminum wheels painted in black. We expect the Black Accent Package with its striking wheel design, which upgrades to 19-inch black wheels and adds a black spoiler and black paint to the roof, will also be renamed.
