Ford Maverick 2022 pickup truck attracts attention

Attention everyone 2022 Ford Maverick. You could take it up the metro Detroit is a corporate town, but that’s too easy. NS Maverick, despite its modest size, has a presence.

I expect vans to attract curiosity. Aesthetically, Maverick’s closest rival, 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz, more eye-catching with flashy grille and curves and folds from front to back. The Maverick’s squarish trucker demeanor makes it an eye-catcher and it has some design flourishes, especially the front with its seamless block-headlights with grille.

It’s not just looks. MSRP under $20K offers real value and is a combination of Fordstrategy to shift away from cars to similar sized products. This is better than Ford Focus, and it makes sense why Ford would take such a risk in improving its lineup. And hybrid version up to 42 mpg.

Ford sold 4,140 Mavericks in October, far exceeding Santa CruzStill healthy tally 1,848 units. Ford says the trucks are moving seller five days on average, which is a fast pace. Maverick is also attracting younger buyers, with a quarter of sales going to 18- to 35-year-olds.

While the sales figures are interesting, Maverick starts around $4,000 less than Santa Cruz and Ford sell more cars Hyundai in the United States, so that’s only part of the equation. Ford and Hyundai will define success for their minivans in different ways. Both are attention-grabbers, but Maverick surprised me with its star power. It will be interesting to see if this segment holds the power for Ford, Hyundai and perhaps others.

Other news and notes

North American Car, Truck and Utility of the Year Awards make it to the final was announced this week in Los Angeles Auto Show, Maverick and Santa Cruz all feature in the truck category, where they join the Rivian R1T.

NS Honda Civic, Lucid Air and Volkswagen Golf GTI/R will vie for top honors in the car segment. NS Ford Bronco, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Genesis GV70 make up the SUV sector. Winners will be announced in early January. The finalists were selected from the 23 semi-finalists. Full Disclosure: I’m the NACTOY jury.

Here’s a weird one: Renowned designer Marcello Gandini To be refuse reincarnation afterward Lamborghini Countach. Lambo essentially redesigned the Sian with a modern interpretation of the Countach’s design signs. It’s a limited piece with only 112 copies, so a revival of the captured cuneiform demon is unlikely. supercar zeitgeist from 1974-1990. Gandini wrote the original and it was one of the many bright spots in his legendary career.

However, Gandini released a scathing statement saying that he had no role in the New Countach. It’s strange, he appeared in a video where he discussed the Countach’s styling with Lambo’s current head of design, Mikja Bokert, and a new Countach model was introduced for Gandini.

Gandini’s statement states that he considers it simply a pattern, and nothing more, and Lambo (in a declare with Top gear) note that its most famous designer has no role in the current car. It’s pretty harsh, all around.
