Ford Australia remembered 159 examples Later EscapeFailure may result in loss of steering control.
In the recall notice, the automaker said: “Due to a manufacturing defect, over time and under certain conditions, excessive friction and movement in the steering gear may result in loss of ability steering control”.
“Loss of steering control can increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

If you own an affected Ford Escape, Ford will contact you to schedule an appointment with your preferred dealer to have the power steering assembly inspected and replaced, if necessary, free of charge.
