Ford announces discontinuation of production of F-150 Lightning due to battery problems

Produce for Ford F-150 Lightning Currently on hold due to construction and shipping halt orders due to Ford, Motorcycle Authority report today.

The exact cause of the pause is still unclear, but a Ford spokesman said Motorcycle Authority that orders were given “due to a potential battery issue.” We’ve reached out to Ford with questions to determine additional information and will update when we receive a response.

So far, a Ford spokesperson has only said that the “problem” has been identified during Ford’s pre-delivery quality checks. Besides, Motorcycle Authority reports that there is no sell stop order on pre-built Lightnings on seller a lot, leave those samples blank to deliver to the customer.

Ford didn’t give a timeline for lifting the moratorium, but Detroit Free Press reported that the construction of the factory F-150 Lightnings has been down “since last week.” All the spokesperson said about when to get the plant back up and running is that the engineering team is currently working to “identify the root cause of the potential problem.”
