Just as many adventure bikes have beaks inspired by the high front fenders of mountain and racing bikes, most adventure helmets have crests inspired by those on helmets. Mountain bike insurance. Sometimes called a visor, the top helps block flying debris, errant twigs and bright sunlight. Fly Racing makes a variety of off-road motorcycle helmets, while Trekker helmets are aimed at dual-sport and adventure riders who spend time both on and off the pavement.

The DOT/ECE approved Trekker features a lightweight polymer shell, wide, eyepiece-friendly eyepiece, and dual-density EPS liner for progressive impact protection. The optically correct, UV-resistant clear face shield has a coating to prevent fogging and prevent scratches, and its mechanism has several retaining latches for partially or fully open positions. . The shield can be removed with a Phillips-head screwdriver (a nickel or dime will work well) to accommodate the goggles, but I had no problem wearing the goggles with the face shield in place. fully open. The Trekker also features a drop-down sun visor with anti-fog coating, and colored and iridium visors are available.

The Trekker has closable vents in the chin bar, on the forehead and on the back, and the EPS liner has ventilation channels to draw hot air through the inside of the helmet. Overall, the helmet provides good airflow and the removable chin curtain will block some dust and cool air. Covering the driver’s head is a comfortable removable, adjustable and washable antibacterial SpaSoft lining. There are speaker pockets for mounting communications equipment on the helmet, and the Trekker is secured with a double D-shaped chin strap.

The Trekker has all the features I want in an adventure helmet at a very reasonable price, and it’s quite light (the medium size I tested weighed 3 pounds, 10 ounces). The visor and sun shield mechanism worked well, even after being exposed to a lot of fine mud. The peak can be removed for more of a street-style helmet, but I didn’t have any problems with the peak at highway speeds. And I’m a big fan of the new Kryptek Conceal graphics for 2024, especially in the Slate/Black/Red colorway shown.

The Fly Racing Trekker Adventure Motorcycle Helmet comes in sizes XS-2XL in solid colors for $189.95 and Kryptek Conceal graphics (available in four colors) for $219.95.
