Floyd Mayweather’s Goal Against Deji: ‘Give People Excitement’

Floyd Mayweather, 45, is more active than most elite boxers.

The Hall of Famer stopped Japanese MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura in the second round on September 25, his second exhibition of the year. And he’s still not done in 2022.

He’s scheduled to face boxer Deji Olantunji – better known as “Deji” – pay-per-view on November 13 from Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates United Arab Emirates.

Mayweather and Deji, brother of famous boxer KSI, were in Las Vegas for a new meeting on Thursday.

“I’m so glad we were able to come together and put together another great fan event,” Mayweather said. “I’ve come here many times with the intention of having a big fight, and it’s all just for fun. That’s what you get on November 13.

“I am very happy to be back in the UAE to bring people excitement. Both of us will have fun and everyone in the world will be entertained. “

Mayweather is clearly impressed with Deji, both in his popularity and what he brings to the ring.

Deji has nearly 11 million subscribers on YouTube, plus Mayweather’s huge following, which is a big deal. And while the 25-year-old from England has had mixed results in a series of exhibitions, he keeps coming back for more.

“I liked his confidence,” Mayweather said, “and I liked that after the first fight, he didn’t give up. He is constantly working hard to get better and better.”

Deji seems almost overwhelmed by the importance of the moment but he knows he has a job to do.

“This is amazing,” he said. “I am really lucky. This is surreal. We are making history. I really don’t have words to describe exactly how I feel. At the end of the day, I’m here to have fun and show off my skills. We’ll see what happens in the ring on November 13.

“I always want to encourage people to never give up. I’m a guy that people always suspect. But I make sure that I worked hard and kept going, because I will never give up.”

The last time Mayweather was in a punishing bout was in 2017, when he knocked out Conor McGregor in 10 rounds.

Since then, he has participated in four exhibitions. He stopped kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in December 2018, went the distance with YouTuber Logan Paul last June, crossed the gap with his competitive partner Don Moore last May, and knocked out Asakura.
