Floyd Mayweather is nothing if not a swashbuckler. In or out of the ring, a man chooses his actions and words very carefully. Perhaps that is why it should be noted that, in an interview with FightHype, Mayweather addresses rumors of a split with quarterback Gervonta “Tank” Davis with three simple words: “Nothing lasts forever.” This certainly doesn’t sound like something a man would say in the face of a baseless assertion. “He has to do what’s best for him,” Mayweather said of Davis. While Davis has consistently received accusations that he fights less than challenges the opposition, there is little doubt that he has been successful under Mayweather’s advertising base, Mayweather Promotions. Talent alone can rarely bring in big money and pay per view. However, words can be painful.
“I would love to fight Gervonta Davis,” lightweight tennis player George Kamabosos said last week, “but he won’t be fighting in Australia (the home of the Kambosos)… maybe after I kick his ass back in his hometown. his.” Kambosos then went on to trash Davis’ May 28 PPV match against Rolando Romero at Brooklyn’s Barclay Center. “It wasn’t a big fight at all,” Kambosos quipped. “That guy, I’m not even sure who he is… Tanks will destroy him and you’ll never hear of this kid again.” Davis himself didn’t even seem crazy about the upcoming match against Romero. “My contract is up that’s why they want me to fight this bad clown,” he tweeted.
On the other hand, Mayweather didn’t promote the fight as if it were a joke. “Two heavyweights,” he said FightHype,”Of course Tank has more experience at this level… but Rolly, he said a good match, but he also played a good fight because he was undefeated.” Mayweather said he has no sympathy for Davis no matter what the boxer’s final decision is. “I will always love Tank. I like him (and look at him like a son),” said great all the time. “I feel like I’ve done a great job so far of just building him up and putting him in great games and he’s developing consistently, he’s learning consistently and I’m confident. proud of him.”
