Brandon Ingram of New Orleans Pelicans could start after 10 games absent

The New Orleans Pelicans listed Brandon Ingram possible for Sunday’s game against Los Angeles LakersStriker to end a 10 game absence and return to his old team.

Ingram has been out since March 8 with a strained right hamstring. After missing the Pelicans’ most recent road trip with a non-COVID illness, Ingram sat out New Orleans’ most recent home games with Chicago and San Antonio while preparing to return against the Lakers.

The Pelicans went 4-6 without Ingram as they continued to push for a spot in the Western Conference play-in tournament.

While Ingram is likely to return, the Pelicans may be without two other key players. CJ McCollum (left ankle sprain) and Jonas Valanciunas (right leg pain) was listed as problematic after both played Saturday against Spurs. McCollum had 32 points in 35 minutes while Valanciunas had 18 points and 11 rebounds in 29 minutes.

Larry Nance Jr. (right knee arthroscopy) is also listed as suspect. Nance made his debut in the season against the Bulls, but the Pelicans look like they’ll give him a break for the second night of the return game.

New Orleans’ 10th seed in the West, sitting half way against the Lakers and one against Spurs in the play-in race. The Pelicans came to play with the Lakers Friday night in Los Angeles.

The Pelicans beat the Lakers 123-95 on February 27 and a win on Sunday would get them the winning goal since the teams have played three times this season.
