Flightline will launch bets after winning the first two races with a huge winning margin. “The flight path was something of an unreal so far – never seen anything like it,” Branch said. “But if we catch him and beat him, that would make for a pretty interesting story. I have the utmost respect for all the horses that are taking part in this race.”
Juan Hernandez beat Prat to lead Del Mar’s recent fall encounter and finished second behind him in two encounters between Santa Anita and Del Mar’s summer encounter. Hernandez rides Dr Schivel as he breaks his maidenhood at the 2020 summer Del Mar meeting in the third start and will return to the Malibu train from post 4.
Triple Tap may have the sexiest pedigree in the entire field. Also a son of Tapit, he’s gone Littleprincessemma America’s Pharoah Dam. Bob Baffert trains ponies for owners/raiders Summer Wind Equine.
Although his two-race winning margin wasn’t close to that of Flightline, Triple Tap won both daytime starts: 4 1/4 lengths on his March 13 debut and 2 1/ 4 lengths on Nov. 5. Timeless Bonus and Baby Yoda was moved to Malibu. They met at Steel Valley Sprint Stakes on November 22nd at Hollywood Game at Mahoning Valley Racecourse in Ohio.
