2023 Alpina B5 GT revealed as the company’s most powerful model


With the current BMW 5 Series coming soon, tuning company Alpina will wrap up its related B5 with a more powerful limited edition model.

The 2023 Alpina B5 GT will be available in both sedan and Touring wagon body styles and will be limited to just 250 units worldwide.

We do not expect to see any here, with Alpina stop B5 locally in 2020.

Under the bonnet is a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 engine which Alpina claims is its most powerful engine to date, pumping out 466kW power and 850Nm of torque.

That’s an extra 6kW and 100Nm per Competitive BMW M5and up 19kW and 50Nm on the regular B5.

Alpina says the extra power comes from updated flow-optimized air ducts and silencers and updates to the engine software.

The additional engine performance will help the B5 GT sedan accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, while the Touring will take 3.6 seconds. Top speed is 330km/h for the sedan and 322km/h for the Touring.

As with the regular B5, transmission is sent through a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission to all four wheels.

Alpina claims the B5 GT has better handling thanks to optimized roll assist on the rear axle and arched bulkhead struts for front-end stability, as well as a slightly lower travel height. helps reduce center of gravity in Touring.

The B5 GT will ride on the latest version of 20-inch, 20-spoke Alpina wheels, lettered B5 GT and wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tyres.

Behind the alloy wheels are lightweight Brembo brake discs measuring 395 mm at the front and 398 mm at the rear, and highly heat-resistant brake pads for improved pedal response.

While the exterior of the B5 GT isn’t significantly different from the regular B5, there are aerodynamic changes including a diving plane and a partial front splitter on the front spoiler to improve downforce.

There’s the Alpina twin sport exhaust system with a central silencer configuration and a gloss black finish thanks to a titanium nitride coating.

Exterior colors include standard Alpina Blue and Alpina Blue, as well as special colors Petrol Mica, Verde British Racing, Chalk, Imola Red, Daytona Violet and Arctic Race Blue.

Examples finished in Marron Volciano, Blue Matt and Green Matt are also available with traditional Alpina Deco-set side stripes.

Standard interior includes Nappa leather seats in multiple colors, with B5 GT embroidered on the headrests and floor mats, as well as a heated steering wheel with aluminum gearshift paddles and premium Walnut Anthracite wood trim throughout. cabin.

A Merino full leather interior is optional, or buyers can opt for a custom natural tanned Lavalina leather interior made exclusively by Alpina’s in-house saddle manufacturing company. This option will only be available in limited quantities.

Custom upholstery options also include sport seats with flared side rails, finished in black Dakota leather with black Alcantara seat centers and blue accents.

Each B5 GT will be fitted with a stainless steel production plate on both the center console and the engine, indicating the limited edition model’s unique production number.

Alpina has confirmed pricing in Germany for the B5 GT, with the sedan priced at €145,500 (AU$225,000) and the Touring priced at €148,500 (AU$230,000).

The tuning company has started taking orders for the B5 GT and deliveries are expected to begin in July 2023.
