Find out how this nude Marilyn Monroe-inspired portrait was lit and photographed

Few photographic subjects are more iconic than Marilyn Monroe, and even today, decades later, her images capture the eye of the viewer and the imagination of the photographer. This awesome video tutorial takes you behind the scenes of an artistic nude portrait inspired by Marilyn Monroe and shows you how it was lighted, photographed, and retouched.

Coming to you from Lindsay Adler Photography, this awesome video tutorial will show you how this Marilyn Monroe-inspired artistic nude portrait is lighted, shot, and edited. As you will see, Adler uses her Westcott optical point for this shot, helping to simulate the tough, high-contrast look of the lights of the past. However, because that hard light is in focus, Adler adds a medium umbrella to help reduce the shadows around the subject a bit. To kick off the shot, Adler added a third light with a 20-degree grid to help separate the model from the background, helping her really stand out from the background, an effect that was slightly amplified in the background. This is a pretty cool exercise in light and a neat return to the classic look. Check out the video above for the full summary from Adler.
