Fights In Tight Spaces beats early access

It’s been a little over 9 months since Fight in tight spaces It was first released on Steam Early Access and as of December 2, it is open to the public and entering full release. It’s a unique combination of deck building and turn-based strategy, presented in stylish and satisfying 3D animation. Sort of Superhot meets Slay The Spire.

In Fights In Tight Spaces, you will play as an anonymous agent whose purpose is to assassinate bosses, while moving through many chapters of the game. On the way to each boss are a number of smaller encounters, this is your chance to practice. You take turns planning the best way to slay a bunch of enemies, and ultimately upgrade your skills and continue the cycle.

The final release of Fights In Tight Spaces includes a new playable character to choose from, as well as new levels to increase diversity for players. The game’s final mission has also been completely replaced, now featuring new levels, characters, and enemy abilities. Even longtime supporters will have a completely different experience playing it again. There are also now over 200 cards to choose from when deciding what to go in your deck, or if you’re like me, another 200+ chances to regret the cards you’ve chosen.

The developer Ground Shatter also made it clear in 1.0 patch notes that just because the game is finally over, it doesn’t mean their job is over. The team will be there to “support the game as it goes on.” They also mention that the 1.0 release brings with it a bunch of other smaller balance changes and bug fixes.

The game first appeared publicly playable as demo during the 2020 Steam Game Festival (since then rebranded as Steam Next Festival). I played it back then and really enjoyed it, but somehow I managed to get past its early access phase entirely. Looks like the game has finally drawn the right cards and managed to get my full attention on it again with the 1.0 release.

Fights In Tight Spaces is out now Steam, Epic game store, and GOG for £19 / $25 / €21.
