Claressa Shields told Savannah Marshall to either fight her on their new September 3rd or find another opponent.
The undisputed middleweight title fight is over write for this summerbut arm surgery put Marshall on hold.
“If it doesn’t happen [by] September 3, Savannah Marshall will have to find someone else to play with. That’s it,” Shields told Sky Sports News.
The American tennis player, who holds the WBC, WBA and IBF titles, has spent time in the UK this year to help fuel the competition. In February, she defended her belt against Ema Kozin in Cardiff and then competed Marshall’s Last Protection of her WBO Femke Hermans strap in Newcastle. After each match, the two champions had heated confrontations proving that no love was lost between the two.
Shields believes that Marshall is now trying to spend more time preparing himself.
“It’s all mind games and it’s overtime,” Shields said. “She and her coach realized it wasn’t what they thought it was.”
“I won’t let Savannah take me, she won’t knock me down.
“She’s going to have to be in great shape, she’s going to have to be mentally strong and she’s going to have to endure a lot of hard punches, to the body, to the head and I don’t think she’s ready for that. that right now. ”
