In front of FFXIV Letter from Manufacturer Direct Part LXVIII, Director and Producer Naoki Yoshida commented on the possibility of some NFT elements in the game. During the test live stream, he dismissed the idea of it being included at this point. He reiterated that they will not be merged. However, he did mention that he would be willing to talk privately about the concept of NFTs and might see them as an opportunity.

We’ve seen a lot of reactions, especially from Western users, about NFT. Many comments on how you oppose NFTs. I understand that our CEO [Yosuke] Matsuda commented on the concept of NFT in his new year greetings, in his messages. There can be a little sensitivity, a little anxiety, around this topic.
I mentioned it before, but based on how FFXIV designed, we do not intend to incorporate any NFT elements into the game at this time. So if someone is concerned or worried about that, I can make it clear at this point that we don’t have any intention of bringing that into the game.
After he confirms there will be no NFT elements in FFXIV, Yoshida expressed his interest in general. He suggested perhaps an interview discussing the concept.
