A new look at the gameplay of Agent 64, the legally distinct Goldeneye homage
You can still play the demo right now
Almost a year agoOur own Jordan Devore gave us a pretty in-depth look at Agent 64: one GoldenEye / Perfect Dark / TimeSplitters homage from studio Replicant D6. Today’s PC Gaming Show gave us another look at some Agent 64 style play via a new trailer.
Although we do not receive much new information, we received some kernels due to a new part from PC Gamer. It’s “out of early access later this year” and doesn’t have reconfirmed multiplayer, along with lots of difficulty modes. The game will feature a CRT visual filter, and some parts of the gameplay have been perfected as a result of the 2021 alpha testing: including considerations of faster fire control and a more arcadey feel with hip shooting. The team also reminds us that Demo is now available on Steam.
The lack of multiplayer might be seen as a missed opportunity, but it’s actually refreshing in a way. I know I’ll be able to dig into this, get it done, and put it on the shelf. In an age of countless games as a service, it’s a welcome respite. However, “Early Access Later This Year” doesn’t excite me much! I’ll join when it’s done.
