The latest installment of Square Enix FFXIV Behind the scenes investigator reviewed what went into item design, and provided updates on dyeable Full Body Kappa (Water Imp) and Fat Chocobo Head skins. Lead item designer Yosuke Hayashi discussed how both fan requests are going. He also shows off art for Tataru’s new Grand Endeavor costume bonus.
Looks like the Fat Chocobo dye option will appear first. Hayashi noted that the update will be available “in the near future.” No exact release window was mentioned.
However, people will need to wait longer to dress up as Kappa (Water Imp) in FFXIV. Hayashi noted that other devices are being prioritized. Here’s his full statement from Square Enix’s interview.
As for the kappa costume, our whole group talked about it hotly the day after the 2pm broadcast. (smile)
We can’t work on it right away as there are other gear that need to be developed, but we’re so excited about the kappa skins that it probably won’t be long before we can showcase it. I’m sure our players have high expectations for it, so we’ll be meticulous to make sure it turns out great.
Finally, Tataru’s new Grand Endeavor skin has arrived. Hayashi noted that it was inspired by the types of clothing people would see at Hingashi. This is because the latest quest line is placed there. Only the male version of the kimono appeared.
Final Fantasy XIV available on PS4, PS5 and PC. Its update 6.3 will arrive on January 10, 2023. When it arrives, it will include a Corgi . dog.
