Square Enix run a FFVII remake Reviewed the series. Each section involves behind-the-scenes insights from the developers about different characters and chapters. The latest features introduce some insights about Tifa in FFVII remakeincluding the fact that she almost has a playable part when she deals with Don Corneo.
This detail actually comes out in a passage where both Co-Script Designer Motomu Toriyama and Game Programming/Design Co-Director Naoki Hamaguchi talk about Cloud’s inability to enter Avalanche’s hideout in Seventh Heaven. The two mention this to show that he is just a mercenary and not “part” of the group. However, they later said that people could almost visit that basement while Tifa was in FFVII remake.

In Chapter 3, Cloud is more distant from the Avalanche members than he was in the original game, so we’ve established that he’s not allowed into their underground hideout. There are group meetings where only the full Avalanche members are invited to participate and Cloud is left to celebrate the successful bombing mission etc. has portrayed the loneliness of his situation.
However, the story is much more than that, as during development we actually planned a section between Chapter 8 and Chapter 9, where the player controls Tifa and can experience the events of the game. leading to her infiltrating Don Corneo’s wife audition. That section will introduce the inside of the Avalanche base.
It’s been developed to the point where the part is cobbled together and playable, but we’re concerned that having a separate story as an epilogue after Cloud falls from Reactor 5 and reunites with Aerith in the church would spoil the pacing of the story, so we ultimately decided to remove that part. I think it would be great if we had a chance to show this side of the story if we had the chance.
Toriyama also noted that the goal in FFVII remake is to show how kind Tifa is to introduce her to the player. He also notes how Cloud can only open up to her, due to their past.
