Ferrari drops rank on the big tourer Roma

Just like the Colosseum, FerrariRoma currently open for elements.

Unveiled during the night, the new Roma Spider has a fabric soft top that can descend in 13.5 seconds and reach speeds of up to 60 km/h. Ferrari claims the Roma’s five-layer fabric roof “boasts the same sonic comfort as a retractable hardtop”.

To improve passenger comfort when the hood is lowered, a wind deflector can be deployed at speeds up to 170 km/h, but once in place can be used at high speeds. any speed.

The very comfortable rear seats now have headrests that are visually integrated with the Spider’s body visor.

As with the coupe, the Spider has a high-resolution instrumentation display and a steering wheel with a Manettino switch that can be used to toggle between five driving modes.

The center tunnel once again has a metal plate, designed to resemble a classic ported manual shift lever, with a series of switches to operate the dual-clutch transmission.

In addition to the touchscreen infotainment system in the center of the dashboard, which supports Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay, there’s a separate touchscreen up front for the front passenger.

When the roof is raised, the Roma Spider has a trunk volume of 255L. Ferrari doesn’t specify how much capacity is left when the hood is stored there in outdoor mode, although the company says it folds up to just 220mm tall when folded.

A pass-through in the rear seats allows the Roma Spider to carry longer items, presumably skateboards rather than wooden boards from Bunnings.

There’s an active spoiler built into the trunk lid that automatically deploys into three different positions to provide the right amount of drag for the current driving situation.

Under the bonnet, the Roma Spider has coupe characteristics 3.9 liter twin-turbo V8manufacture 456kW between 5750 and 7500rpm, and 760Nm between 3000 and 5750rpm.

It drives the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic dual-clutch transmission. Ferrari claims the Roma Spider can complete the 0-100 km/h run in 3.4 seconds, just like the coupe. Both Roma variants have a top speed of over 320km/h.

Thanks to the addition of structural braces and a folding roof, the Spider has a dry weight of 1556kg, 84kg more than the coupe version. This means it takes 9.7 seconds to reach twice the weight, or 0.4 seconds more, than the fixed-top coupe.

The Roma Spider rides on 20-inch alloy wheels with 245/35 tires up front and 285/35 rubber at the rear.
