Fans Debating If Usher Can Do a Super Bowl Halftime Show
With Rihanna’s long-awaited Super Bowl performance in the rearview mirror, people were naturally buzzing about who’s going to perform the mid-show next half. However, when people started suggesting that Usher should keep the honor, one user shared a sizzling shot and quickly sparked some controversy!
One user questioned whether Usher had enough ‘Pop/Hip-Hop Hits’
When people started hyping the idea of a potential future Usher halftime performance, one user chimed in by stating that she doesn’t believe “he has enough copies.” hit pop/hip-hop” to do so.
“I know you guys think Usher should perform the next SB but I don’t think he has enough pop/hip-hop hits.”

Twitter defends Usher’s honor
Immediately, a large number of Twitter took notice of the user’s statement and they began to appear in quote tweets!
Many users expressed complete skepticism about the notion that Usher wouldn’t be able to get a stellar Super Bowl performance.
You guys don’t respect Usher to the extent that you’re not Beyoncé’s only co-worker in this damn music. That was crazy to me. He’s also a performer just like her and THAT’s better than JLO. However, do you want to believe that he can’t make it to the Super Bowl??? With his DISCOVER?!

Others went on to analyze how Usher had more than enough hit pieces to put on a great mid-half performance.
this is why often, you guys should sit out of music conversations
1. pop hits = popular hits
2. Pop songs can be of any genre as long as it’s POPULAR
3. Usher’s has 52 posts in the top 100 billboards. 18 songs reached the top 10 hits. Top 9 songs
so yes he has enough https://t.co/HCEVKu516o– bayou (@bayoubabineaux) February 13, 2023
Their whites have disappeared from the power of “yes” alone. Be serious. 😂
And even though we went into his oontz oontz era, everyone else loved it. https://t.co/9r5UDxyssa

It is also argued that, judging by some of the artists who have performed over the past few years, Usher is more deserving of this honor.

OP doubles down: ‘Beyoncé would be a better choice’
All of this backlash resulted in the original poster leaving a reply and criticizing critics as “deliberately confusing”. She also further elaborated on her original statement by clarifying that it was “not an insult to the artist Usher.” Instead, she simply doesn’t think he has “enough *pop* hits for a *13* minute medley performance.”
She also ended by stating, “Beyoncé would be the better choice.”
Y’all are being intentionally obtuse. Not R&B. Pop music. Cross hits. He didn’t have enough *pop* hits to perform the *13* min medley. It will be fine. That’s not a disagreement with the artist Usher. Bc you don’t think they will consider him? 🙄. Beyoncé would be a better choice.

Do you think Usher is a good candidate to perform at a future Super Bowl halftime show? Also, do you think R&B has a place at these events or should they stick with pop and hip-hop repertoire?
