September 11 is Women’s Day at FanDuel Meet at Kentucky Downs with the filling and mare in the spotlight. The 11-race card is highlighted by three stakes: $500,000 Ainsworth Unacceptable for the 2-year-old sprinter, $500,000 in Nelson’s Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey Music City stake for the runner. 3 year old sprint and $550,000 AGS Ladies Marathon (G3T) for mares and mares running 1 5/16 miles.
A trio of Kentucky Downs stake winners from last year will participate Family Road , Adventure and Princess Koala . The first post for Sunday’s 11-race card is 12:25 p.m. CT, with Untapable kicking off around 4:23 p.m., City of Music 4:57 p.m., and the Women’s Marathon 5:31 p.m.
Hunter Valley Farm, Debra O’Connor, and Marc Detampel’s Family Way are looking for a repeat in the Women’s Marathon, which has been elevated to the ranking position for the first time this year. Field nine also includes Adventuring, last year’s $500,000 winner Exacta Systems Dueling Grounds Oaks by the same distance.
Family Way won the emotional three-horse photo in last year’s Women’s Marathon. In five bets this year, she won in Gulfstream ParkOrchid Shares (G3T), three seconds and a third in Beverly D. (G1T) Shares at Churchill Downs for coach Brendan Walsh.
Godolphin’s versatile adventure is a bet winner on grass, dirt, and synthetics. Most recently, after an eight-month break, Adventuring returned to win the West Virginia Senate President’s Cup August 6 in a trench race after being taken off the field at Mountaineer Casino Resort & Racetrack.
Kelsey Danner trained Honeysuckle Last year’s Dueling Grounds Oaks runner-up at 22-1 odds, will return 10 days after qualifying for the 1 5/16-mile option title race at the Kentucky Downs by a single head.
Other participants including winning duo Lazy and The core values , Stand high , Oliviaofthedesert , The Act of Disappearance and Lucky money .
Music City’s potential favorite is Princess Koala , who won last year’s Ainsworth Untapable. In her only start this year, Princess Koala finished third in Racecourse SaratogaLake George Stakes (G3T), also a mile away, is for coach Arnaud Delacour.
Others in the field flooded the 6 1/2-city music stretch of 15 participants including: multi-stakes winners poppies , Football Balloons , Happy soul and Wish you a good day (group 3 winner in France); win bets Sister Lou Ann and Majestic d’Oro ; subsidy winner Freedom to speak , Static fire and Sunday of grace ; deposits Dreamworker and Oeuvre winner of four straight grant level races. Static fire and Sunday of grace is one of three horses that need to escape to run.
Danner also has Danse Macabre in 6 1/2-furlong Untapable. The Mule’s Army watched a maiden race at Colony Downs with a second in Saratoga’s Bolton Landing post, a grass sprint.
Half chance won a girls race in Saratoga after finishing second on the field at Belmont Park. She’s owned by partner CJ Thoroughbreds headed by former Kentucky Downs track president Corey Johnsen and coached by Wesley Ward.
The eight-man field includes the winners of the first grass-court races at Saratoga (Charming Angel and Numero Seis ), Ellis . Park (Bling ), Colony Downs (Stick Tiki ), and Monmouth Park (Recinto Rompere ).
