Ex Petronas Yamaha team switches to Aprilia for MotoGP 2023

Aprilia confirms satellite team

As of the 2023 season, there will be 4 Aprilia RS-GPs competing in the MotoGP class of the World Championship. Aprilia Racing and the RNF Racing team today signed an agreement valid for two seasons, renewable for another two years. For the first time in youth history at MotoGP, Aprilia will have a satellite team.

Following a positive start to the 2022 season and confirmation of factory team riders Aleix Espargaró and Maverick Viñales over the next two years, the deal will see Aprilia’s bike stock double as one further on the path of growth, both technical and organizational, for which the Noale-based racing division has set its sights.

The partnership with RNF Racing will not be limited to bike sales but will involve synergy that helps Aprilia Racing invest in partnerships to train engineers, technicians, managers and of course the racers.

A multi-year program, which is expected to lead to the expansion, consolidation and enhancement of the technical and management culture that represents the heritage of the Italian factory.

Massimo Rivola

I am delighted to announce the agreement with RNF Racing. We’ve always argued in small steps, and as we’ve demonstrated our RS-GP’s competitiveness, a natural part of the journey has been to see two more on the right track. Noale racing is a true legacy of knowledge, of a technical culture applied to high-performance motorcycling as well as sports management. With RNF Racing, we found a partner to enhance and value this exceptional legacy. Of course, we are thinking of the best drivers and competitiveness, but also to raise new generations of engineers, technicians and managers. To continue and improve on the distinctive, purely Italian tradition of Aprilia Racing“.

Razlan Razali

We are delighted for this long term partnership with Aprilia Racing. Our philosophy remains to work together with the factory team to develop riders who will one day become Aprilia factory racers. We will support them in their development to ensure that we continue to compete and ultimately win with Aprilia Racing. Aprilia Racing’s proposal is to meet our long-term, strategic and security plans for the next two years and I must thank Aprilia Racing for their trust, faith and confidence in us. We fully look forward to next year’s season and this new partnership. At the same time, we want to thank Yamaha for the years we have worked and developed together. However, we will maintain our focus and work hard this season to improve our results alongside Yamaha and finally finish 2022 on a high note.. ”
