The world of boxing continues to pass its fingers and hold its collective breath.

For years, even the most observant fans have struggled with naming the world’s best 147-pound athlete. Division WBO winner Terence Crawford, and Errol Spence Jr., currently own IBF and WBC jewels, both men who have separated themselves from the group.

While at first it seemed like a journey of collision between the pair seemed inevitable, fans became more and more bewildered as time continued. Still, even as some fans are holding out hope, Spence Jr is just weeks away from fighting for his third world title.

On April 16, in front of homegrown fans at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Spence Jr will play WBA champion, Yordenis Ugas. If the Dallas product does what many are hoping for, he will need only Crawford’s single title to achieve undisputed status. That said, Spence Jr doesn’t seem too concerned about that.

Spence Jr said in an interview with FightHype.com: “If we can make that fight, it will succeed. “If not, what is it?”

Crawford, just on his 34th birthday, insists he needs to fight Spence Jr following his knockout win over Shawn Porter in November 2021. Though the weight star has struggled with style. rough and rough of his man, he finally found his rhythm before displaying lucidity in the championship rounds.

In an attempt to publicly shame Spence Jr in the face of him, Crawford, shortly after his win, took to his social media account and announced that he was looking for the champion. at the same time as his opponent.

However, in Spence Jr.’s mind, he simply dismissed Crawford’s comments. Long before the mighty men’s team burst onto the scene in the national pugilistic arena, Spence Jr announced that his number one goal was to become the undisputed world champion in the 147-pound division. But while that goal hasn’t changed exactly, he finds that in the grand scheme of things, it doesn’t matter.

“I wouldn’t mind it but it’s what I want, undeniably. I don’t think that’s what I need to be an all-time great. I do not think [Felix] Trinidad, [Oscar] De La Hoya, Floyd [Mayweather] – a lot of undisputed greatness. I don’t think it’s what I need but it’s what I want. If it can’t happen, then what is it? ”
