Episode 478 – Lotfullah Najafizada The Ax Files with David Axelrod When he was just 5 years old, Afghan journalist Lotfullah Najafizada witnessed the rocket landing in his front yard. He and his family moved across the country to escape conflict, but after the fall of the Taliban after 9/11, a new sense of peace – and the burgeoning media scene – emerged. Lotfullah became the director of TOLOnews, the country’s most watched station. He talked with David about the situation on the ground in Afghanistan, participation in peace talks with the Taliban, American successes and failures in this country, and what he wanted people to know about colleagues he lost to the violence.
