Endless summer remains. And Why This Foggy Season.
My podcast today is about two things: the continuation of “endless summer” and why we are in the middle of the foggy season.
A massive alpine peak has dominated the eastern Pacific Ocean seemingly forever. As a result, the Northwest is warmer and drier than usual.
A few days ago, weather models predicted that a strong depression would creep around the eastern Pacific ridge, bringing us some rain.
Good, forecast has changed, with that trench weakening and heading east of us.
As a result, the Northwest will see no rain and only a slight cooling on Monday/Tuesday.
But then it happened again. The upper ridge amplifies greatly in the eastern Pacific, leading to DIFFERENT warming over the Pacific Northwest (see higher-level map late Tuesday below). OH.
My podcast discusses forecasting in more detail.
And then there’s the fog, which has visited our area for a few days this week.
We’re in the Northwest for foggy season, and my podcast tells you why. And I also explain how fire smoke can enhance fog.
