Eli Drinkwitz Attacks Dan Mullen With ‘Star Wars’ Callback After Missouri Beats Florida
Fear leads to anger. Anger leads to hatred. Hatred leads to suffering. And Florida coach Dan Mullen is certainly feeling the pain after his team’s 24-23 extra-time loss to Missouri.
Not only have the Gators dropped 5-6 in the season (2-6 against the SEC) but they now need a win over rival Florida State just to become eligible to play badly. And as if things weren’t bad enough, Mullen feels the Sith – er, Eli Drinkwitz – revenge after Saturday’s defeat.

The Missouri coach taunted Mullen during his post-game press conference, ending his appearance by pulling up his hood and quoting the famous phrase “Star Wars,” “May the Force be with you.” He even holds a toy lightsaber in his hand as he descends the podium.

For those unaware, it’s a direct callback to Mullen, who last year dressed up as Darth Vader after the Florida-Missouri game.
That game, which featured a scuffle during halftime, resulted in a 41-17 win for the Gators. Many people who saw his curious post-game outfit thought it was a brawl, but Mullen explained that he already chose that outfit. The game was also played on Halloween, vindicating his explanation:
Apparently some people are having trouble with #DarthGator.
There are actually more pressing issues to worry about. I’m blaming the hot happenings on the full moon.

Regardless of Mullen’s explanation at the time, the move clearly didn’t sit well with Drinkwitz. He had to wait over a year to attack Mullen again, but he succeeded.
He was able to do that after the teams played overtime, where Florida went first with a 6-yard Emory Jones touchdown against Trent Whittemore. Missouri responded kindly, as Tyler Badie made it 13 yards. Connor Bazelak then completed a pass for Daniel Parker Jr to convert 2 points, sealing victory and Drinkwitz’s revenge.
