Elden Ring composer Tsukasa Saito on creating the game’s soundtrack and his favorite – PlayStation.

I’m happy to announce that today the Elden Ring soundtrack is available on streaming services worldwide. This 67-song album includes all of the music we’ve written for the game, which has seen full-scale production begin when the first track composition will be used. in the first trailer of E3 (2019).

During the production, we were very conscious of key words and phrases like “an epic story”, “calm and resilience” and “eloquence”, because we wanted the music reflects the fact that this is something different from the Dark Souls or Bloodborne series.

For the majority of production, the process begins with a short provided by the director. The summary describes the desired mood and visuals for the piece, including information about the character’s background or the envisioned location/situation for the battle music. We refer to this text, concept design and in-game screenshots, allowing us to expand on the original vision and build the track. Once the track is complete, it will be sent to the director for feedback. After many retries, we can then take our ideas further, refining the layout and tweaking it to perfection. We also recorded with full orchestra and vocalists for the Elden Ring track. The orchestra and the performers did an absolutely amazing job.

One piece, “Song of Honor”, played at Redmane Castle before the Radahn Festival. We originally planned to record this song with only members of the choir. However, we realized that a gathering place of many mercenaries and soldiers would not necessarily be filled with skilled singers. We wanted to try a non-vocal direction, so because of a hasty request we asked the brass section members if they could perform the part for us. They happily agreed to the idea, and I’m so grateful they did, because we ended up getting a great record from them that would fit a warrior’s song so well.

The song I’m most emotionally attached to would have to be the theme, “Elden Ring.”

This component is necessary to render the entire game; it needs to represent something different from our previous titles. We spent a long time obsessing over and fine-tuning the details and tonality of this piece, and I think as a result we’ve achieved something that embodies the theme of the game and becomes a mainstay. strong directional column for the rest of the music. I think we’ve created a nice piece of work when players start the game, sparking their motivation and excitement at the start of their adventure of being an Elden Lord.
