Edmonton Elks sign QB Nick Arbuckle to one-year contract – Edmonton


Lately acquired quarterback Nick Arbuckle has signed a one-year contract extension with the Edmonton Elks.

The deal, introduced Monday by the Elks, retains Arbuckle in Edmonton via the 2022 CFL season.

Monday’s announcement means the Toronto Argonauts will obtain Edmonton’s second-round choose within the 2022 CFL draft. The Argonauts dealt Arbuckle to Edmonton final Tuesday in trade for a conditional choose and the rights to American quarterback Chad Kelly, who was on Edmonton’s negotiation checklist.

Arbuckle, 28, was on a one-year deal, after signing with the Argonauts previous to the 2021 CFL season in February.

The six-foot-one, 213-pound Arbuckle accomplished 96-of-153 passes for 1,158 yards with 5 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in seven video games with Toronto this season.

Initially signed by the Calgary Stampeders out of Georgia State in 2017, Arbuckle has performed in 43 profession CFL regular-season video games, finishing 287 of his 416 makes an attempt, with 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.

Arbuckle joined the Elks final week after finishing his COVID-19 quarantine and began practising with the crew Monday.

The Elks (2-8) are in final place within the CFL West and are coming off a 39-23 dwelling loss to Hamilton final week. Each of the crew’s victories have come on the street.

Edmonton performs its ultimate dwelling recreation of the season Friday.
