“July 23 is clearly the proposed date,” said promoter Eddie Hearn, via DAZN Boxing Show regarding the highly anticipated rematch between Anthony Joshua and heavyweight athlete Oleksandr Usyk. “We have reached a point where we are now less than seven weeks ago. You know, we have global media tours, we have TV rights to international and secure sponsorship deals. You’ll see that fight in August. 13 and 20 are two recommended dates”. The rematch is definitely one that fans – especially European fans – are eagerly awaiting to see. Hearn has made it clear that an official announcement is essentially figuratively around the corner.
“Literally we’re signing off on the paperwork in the last 24 hours,” he said, “so you’ll get an official announcement soon.” Hearn then went on to present some details surrounding the impending war. “The international media tour will kick off on June 20 or so,” he said. “The war is going on. The war is going on in the Middle East, it seems pretty much. I will save the correct headers for the notification. We’re pretty much there now. “Of course boxing fans have good reason not to believe anything they hear until the contract papers come in. With that said, it’s clear at this point that Usyk-Joshua 2 is almost official. awake.
The first Joshua-Usyk battle, which took place in the UK last September, was something (“something” the operatives heard here) that came as a surprise. Usyk, the smaller of the two – he is the world’s undisputed cruiser champion after all – clearly and decisively beat Joshua on his way to lifting the towering heavyweight title of the British tennis player from his hand. Both boxers expressed joy at the prospect of a rematch. However, the war in Usyk’s homeland of Ukraine forced Usyk to do the patriotic act and return home to help defend his homeland. Since then, however, Usyk has felt more apt to enter the fighting game. He’s been preparing for the Joshua rematch for a while now.
As for Joshua, he will clearly have to come up with a new strategy if he hopes to regain his belt. It seems the man is aware of this, because BBC said: “American coach Robert Garcia who has been hired with Joshua is expected to adopt a more aggressive approach to the rematch.”
