The Klitschko brothers publicly support Usyk’s decision to return to boxing

Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko have publicly supported Oleksandr Usyk’s decision to leave Ukraine and return to boxing.

A few days ago, Usyk announced he would begin preparing for his first world heavyweight title defense in a rematch with Anthony Joshua.

Yesterday, it was reported that the highly anticipated match will take place in Saudi Arabia on June 25.

Usyk, like his friend Vasiliy Lomachenko, chose to return to their homeland to fight for their country against Russian aggression. After four weeks, the undisputed former cruiser champion will now resume his boxing career.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph from Ukraine, the Klitschko brothers believe Usyk will have the positive side to defend the world title against Joshua.

“A very important message can be conveyed through an event like this,” says Vitali.

“We don’t know if in three months we will survive. I actually plan on talking to Oleksandr Usyk to give him advice if he decides to fight, to have some special messages he can deliver there. “

Wladimir, who, like his brother, is also a world heavyweight champion, added: “There are pros and cons and it was a difficult decision for Oleksandr Usyk, but let the Ukrainian flag be. is pulled up and our song goes on and one of our country’s ambassadors out there in the world with the right mindset can be more positive than negative. “
