Easy ways to earn rewards for riding Lyft

One of the best ways to increase your loyalty account balance is double soak or even triple your rewards. Stacked rewards come in many forms and require varying levels of effort, but one of the easiest ways to do this involves ride-hailing company Lyft.

When you summon Lyft, you can earn rewards with not just one or two but three different loyalty programs simultaneously. And the process of doing it is very easy. Here’s what you need to know.

Lyft’s Partner

Lyft has close partnerships with the following loyalty programs:

Before June 2021, you can earn both Hilton Honors and Delta SkyMiles points for traveling on Lyft. However, now you will have to choose between the two. Whether you choose Hilton or Delta, you’re still eligible to earn money with Chase and Dosh.

Now, let’s take a closer look at how to earn rewards through each partnership.

Delta SkyMiles

Official Delta and Lyft launched their partnership in 2017, which allows you to earn bonus SkyMiles for each of your rides. Although Delta’s SkyMiles program is not the most lucrative, there are some wonderful sweet spots you can make a reservation using your mileage. Here’s what you’ll get through Delta and Lyft’s partnership:

1 mile for every dollar spent (excluding taxes, fees, tolls, and tips) for all US travel.
2 miles per dollar spent (excluding taxes, fees, tolls, and tips) for all US airport trips.
$20 ride credit as a new Lyft user.

All you need to do to unlock these rewards is link your Delta and Lyft accounts. To do so, visit deltalyft.com and enter your first name, last name and SkyMiles number. Agree to the terms and conditions, then click “LINK ACCOUNT.”

When you click to link your Delta account, you’ll need to confirm your Lyft account or create a new one.

Then the final step is to confirm your details on the Lyft website or app. Once you’ve completed this linking process, you’ll automatically earn Delta SkyMiles each time you pay for a qualifying Lyft.

Honorable Hilton

While I credit my Lyft trips to Delta SkyMiles, you can choose to monetize it another way Honorable Hilton the point. Here’s what you can earn with Hilton Honors on Lyft rides in the US and Canada:

3 points for every dollar spent (excluding taxes, fees, tolls, and tips) on Lyft luxury, luxury, and extra seats.
2 points for every dollar spent (excluding taxes, fees, tolls, and tips) when sharing Lyft.
$5 off first three for new users.
Bonus points up to $10,000 for riding Lyft.

If you hit a maximum spend of $10,000 on Lyft trips per year, you’ll earn 30,000 Hilton Honors points. Based Valuation of TPGthese points will be worth about $180.

To start earning Hilton points for riding Lyft, visit hiltonhonorslyft.com.

Click “Link your accounts” and log in to your Hilton Honors account.

You need to agree to the terms and click “Link Account”.

Once you’ve completed all of these steps, you can earn Hilton Honor points every time you drink Lyft.

Should I make money with Delta or Hilton?

Deciding to credit your rides to Delta or Hilton depends on your ride pattern. If you often commute to the airport, credit Delta SkyMiles and earn 2 SkyMiles per dollar (worth 2.82 cents based on Valuation of TPG) will probably be your best bet.

Additionally, standard Lyft rides earn 3 Hilton Honors points per dollar (worth 1.8 cents based on Valuation of TPG).

If you link both your Delta and Hilton accounts to Lyft, you can earn money from whichever account you most recently linked. To change from Hilton to Delta or Delta to Hilton, select “Rewards” on the left toolbar in the Lyft app.

Scroll to “Change Partner” and select Delta SkyMiles or Hilton Honors.

Dosh

Dosh is one of my all time favorite rewards apps. It’s simple: Add your credit card information to the app. When you call Lyft, Dosh will automatically identify the transaction by refunding you for applicable purchases.

Dosh returns about 2% on Lyft rides. Once you get $25 cash back you can transfer the money to different payment platforms including Venmo which is what I do. You can earn rewards through Dosh and Hilton or Delta simultaneously, allowing you to get double rewards.

The best cards for Lyft

Best of all, you can add up your loyalty program bonuses and your standard credit card earnings. So this is where the double stack becomes the triple stack.

To maximize your Lyft rides, use a card that offers additional rewards for bookings. Chasing recently Expanded partnership with Lyft, so select Chase cardholders can earn bonuses for purchases on Lyft. Here are the Chase cards that earn 5 Ultimate Rewards points for every dollar (worth 10 cents at Valuation of TPG) or 5% cashback on Lyft:

Annual fee $550 Chase Sapphire Reserve earn 10 Ultimate Rewards points for every dollar (worth 20 cents at Valuation of TPG) on Lyft.

If you have a Chase card with Lyft rewards, add your Chase card to the “pay” section of the Lyft app.

World and World Elite Mastercard Cardholder earns one $5 credits monthly after taking three Lyft trips in one month. After your third trip, the credit will automatically be applied to the next trip, which is limited to once per month. Covered cards include Citi® / AAdvantage® Executive World Elite Mastercard®, Citi Prestige® Card and Hawaiian Airlines World Elite Mastercard.
