We all have a friend has a motorcycle fitted with carbon fiber parts — and although they’ll ask otherwise, we know it’s more about fit than performance. But this Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 and its carbon fiber dustin cranks tick both of those boxes. That’s because India’s Greasehouse Customs wanted to build an Enfield that looked great and hurry up.

Headquartered in Bangalore, Greasehouse is a division of IndiMotard – a multi-faceted company that offers parts, service, tuning, work-to-order, motor tours and even training. drive. They got this build brief directly from Royal Enfield, tasked with building a “fast, fun towing motorcycle”.

“Royal Enfields have always been special motorcycles in the hearts of every Indian cyclist,” explains Achinth Tripathi of Greasehouse. “The 650 twins from Royal Enfield were a revelation in the Indian motorcycle market, so we thought we’d give it the Greasehouse treatment.”

Greasehouse started by tearing the Continental GT down into its nuts and bolts, and weighed every part to figure out where they could reduce weight. With a clear battle plan in mind, they put the body on the rear burner to focus on the front engine.

A stock Royal Enfield 650 makes about 47 hp at the crank, but this one sends 62.2 hp to the rear wheels — and it’s been tuned to optimize power delivery at low rpm . To that end, Greasehouse installed high-compression pistons from S&S Cycle, moved and created the head stream, and added larger injectors. Tuning is done via Race Dynamics’ Piggyback ECU and FuelX Autotune systems.

The engine now breathes in through a pair of velocity stacks and exits through a custom-built two-in-one exhaust. Since this Enfield doesn’t need to be street legal, the wiring has been stripped down to the essentials and connected to a Lithium-ion battery. There’s also a Rekluse clutch and a quick shifter; equipment required on the towing strip.

Greasehouse has kept mods suspended to a minimum. The fork has been lowered and stiffened, and the twin rear shocks have been swapped out for a pair of preload-adjustable YSS forks.

The wheels have also been upgraded, mainly to reduce weight. The front wheel has a lighter hub and aluminum ring, while the rear wheel has an Excel rim attached to the OEM hub. Both ends are wrapped in Michelin racing paint and have a lighter brake rotor at the front.

A lot of weight has been saved by replacing existing parts with custom replacement aluminum. Those include the subframe, adjustable CNC-machined swingarms and new spokes with adjustable levers. Parts look great, too, with subtle branding machined into the front of the top latch.

As you can tell, there’s no more original bodywork on the Enfield. Greasehouse has wrapped it in a handmade carbon fiber trash can, which they admit is as functional as it gets. “We had two main inspirations,” says Achinth, “The Fastest Indian” by Burt Munro andSprintbeemer‘ by LuckyCat Garage. ”

The carbon fiber cap, tail and side panels are also among the differences. Fuel is stored in a hidden aluminum fuel cell; it holds less than a gallon, but that’s all it takes to set the time.

Hidden behind the dustin crank is the original Royal Enfield watch, along with CNC machined brake calipers, new grips, UMA Racing quick throttle and RCB brake master cylinder. The rear sets have also been customized and the bike’s kit is fully complemented with titanium and stainless steel screws.

Greasehouse has named their creation ‘Dunaali’, which means double-barreled pistol. It certainly looks appropriately brutal, finished with a glossy finish over raw carbon fiber and a simple checkered flag strip to clearly show its intent. And it’s also a lot lighter than stock, reaching 170 kg [375 lbs].

But if you’re worried that this build is all for show, rest assured – it’s not. Greasehouse competed with it, taking third place at the Vroom drag race in Bangalore, with rider Lani Zena Fernandez behind bars. Not too shabby for a first outing.
