Ducati Monster SP to launch in 2023 model year

The Ducati Monster line will develop yet another model for the 2023 model year, as the Italian marque has announced the new Ducati Monster SP for next year.

Available on the market in January 2023, the Ducati Monster SP boasts the same Öhlins suspension, Brembo Stylema brake calipers and Termignoni exhaust, among other key features.

With a $15,595 MSRP price tag for the US, the Monster SP has a $2,900 difference in price over the lower spec Monster +.

That extra money gets you the aforementioned benefits, along with a “MotoGP-inspired” battery pack, lithium-ion battery, and a steering damper. All told, the Monster SP is only 5 lbs lighter than its cheaper sibling.

Other differences include a less powerful “Wet” mode also added to the throttle-mapped mode, with the 937cc Testastretta 11° engine still making 111hp at max. Ducati says other driving modes have also been recalibrated,

That makes for a powerful pack that goes head-to-head with bikes like KTM 890 Duke CHEAP and Triumph Street Triple RS. Ducati is taking the high road relative to its European rivals, which is an interesting point to be in this more budget-focused space.

However, for riders looking for something a bit more premium in this category, and all performance pieces often tied to the Ducati name, the Monster SP seems to fit the bill.

We had imagined the machine would be a bit sportier than its already “small” compatriot, although Ducati’s current line of roadsters is still a bit “interesting”.

However, the Bologna brand still has several new bike models to be announced for next year.
