Ducati Diavel V4 spy in development
Ducati Diavel V4
Ducati’s large twin-cylinder Diavel proved a bit more diverse for Ducati’s portfolio when it came out just over a decade ago and has proven quite successful.
Diavel and later XDiavel brought new levels of engine performance to the cruiser world, although it was not far from the traditional in the cruiser genre.
In the current generation, the Diavel is equipped with a Testastretta DVT 1262 engine, with a capacity of 162 hp at 9500 rpm and 130 Nm of torque at 7500 rpm.
These spy shots confirm that Ducati is well on its way to bringing a new V4-powered Diavel to life.
We would imagine that for the Diavel V4, Ducati will most likely use the excellent Granturismo variant of their Superbike engine currently used in Multistrada V4.
The Granturismo V4 has a displacement of 1158 cc, produces 170 hp at 10,500 rpm and 125 Nm of torque at 8750 rpm, but also boasts a powerful growl throughout the entire rev range.
These spy shots show that Ducati had to pretty much start off with a blank slate to bring the V4 Diavel to life.
The frame, shock absorbers, swingarms, air intakes, headlights all look new for the Diavel V4.
As for when we’ll likely see them reach Ducati dealers, we think the end of next year will be a pretty good guess.
