Nissin Foods’ new advertising campaign for the Udon Donbei Kitsune noodle bowl product is based on the outstanding image of Baki series. The new ad, inspired by Baki, promotes Donbei instant noodles with “World’s Strongest Donggitsune”. The Baki The Donbei ad also mentions previous campaigns, which featured “dongitsune,” a fox spirit attached to a Donbei bowl. [Thanks, Famitsu!]

Donbei Baki Hanma the ad sticks to its inspiration, copying Keisuke Itagaki’s super-masculine character designs and striking frames. Baki the Grappler. “World’s Strongest Dongitsune” is also voiced by Akio Otsuka, who plays Yuujirou Hanma, a Baki villain often referred to as “The Strongest Creature on Earth.” Otsuka also voiced Solid Snake from solid metal gearsand Iskandar from Fate/Number. The world’s strongest Dongitsune is promoting a new flavor, called “Nissan’s Strongest Donbei Kitsune Noodle”. The special variety features “extra-thick” and “tough” udon noodles, thicker tofu pieces, topped with onions and special yuzu shichimi pepper for a stronger feel.
This commercial isn’t the first time Nissin has used anime to promote his noodles. The Baki The Donbei ad specifically mentions animation.”Dongitsune Season 2″ commercial aired by Nissin in September and October 2022.

Voice actor Saori Hayami (Ayaka from The Genshin effectYor from Spy x Family) and Kensho Ono (Yuri from Spy x FamilyGiorno from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Golden Wind) also starred in an animated Dongitsune commercial, this time promoting Donbei’s Tempura Soba.
Donbei Kitsune Udon noodles are available in Japan and at international retailers. most recent Baki cartoon series, Baki and Baki Hanma, streaming on Netflix.
