Donald Trump: FBI raids former president’s Mar-a-Lago estate | US News

The FBI searched Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, the former president has announced.

“These are dark times for our Nation, as my beautiful home, Mar-A-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, is currently besieged, raided, and occupied by a large group of FBI agent,” Mr. Trump said in a statement.

“Nothing like this has ever happened to a President of the United States before.

“After working and cooperating with relevant Government agencies, an unannounced raid on my home was unnecessary or appropriate.

“It’s procedural misconduct, the weaponization of the Justice System, and an attack by radical Left Democrats who desperately don’t want me running for President. 2024, especially based on recent polls, and the like will do anything to thwart Republicans and Conservatives in the upcoming Midterm Elections.

The Justice Department has been investigating the discovery of boxes of classified information that were brought to Mar-a-Lago after the end of Trump’s presidency.

Not to mention since the Watergate scandal that brought down President Nixon half a century ago, America has seen something like this.

President Trump claims FBI agents stormed his Florida home and even broke into a safe while executing a search warrant.

He was not at Mar-a-Lago at the time and is believed to be at Trump Towers, his New York mansion.

The White House said it received no notice. The raid was likely approved by the Attorney General.

Multiple sources are linking search warrants to classified documents, but the FBI is unavailable for comment at this stage.

To obtain a search warrant, prosecutors must determine the probable cause of the crime and then convince authorities that it is justifiable.

A prosecutor takes the oath of office to an FBI agent and it is then carefully reviewed by a federal judge.

President Trump is being investigated over claims he mishandled classified information and about the January 6 raid on the Capitol.

But no one really expected to see FBI agents raid the home of a former President of the United States.

He was quick to politicize the search, claiming that such an “attack” could only take place in a “third world country”.

It is not clear whether the FBI search is related to that investigation.

A separate investigation into efforts by Trump’s allies to annul the results of the 2020 presidential election and the January 6, 2021 riots at the US Capitol is also growing in the United States. Washington.
