Does the $299 Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 Lens Overdeliver? This review tells you

The Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 lens is the second cheapest lens in Canon’s full-frame lineup, at $299. Does this lens give you value for money or should you invest in something more expensive?

When I switched from a Canon DSLR to Canon EOS R5, one of my biggest considerations revolves around the substantial lens collection I have amassed over the years. Although made for DSLR mounts, many are still of high quality and I wouldn’t want to spend extra money rebuilding my lens collection if that wasn’t the case. Fortunately, Canon mount adapter works perfectly when using my EF mount lenses on an RF mirrorless body and I saved myself the cost of having to start over with a collection of RF mount lenses. That said, I’ve picked up a few cheaper RF mount lenses along the way, including Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 . Lens.

And that brings us to this amazing video by Dustin Abbott, in which he scrutinizes the lens in a short, sharp and powerful three minutes. He reviews the lens’ possible strengths and pain points and makes an honest judgment as to whether he thinks the lens is true value for money. Some of the issues I’ve found with the lens involve vignetting and barrel distortion, so I was pleased to see him address these topics and give his point of view. For me, this lens is the go-to choice for most of my landscape shots, because I’ve found that most issues can be fixed very quickly and easily in post-production. export. What do you think of this lens?
