Mark Ingram (knee) “problem” in Week 12 Thursday Night Football confrontation with the Bills, and while he may not have been a fantasy artist at this point in his career, Alvin Kamara’s inactivity sent Ingram into the startup bubble. We don’t know the extent of Ingram’s injury, but he thinks it was a game-time decision. Decisions begin in fantasy around Ingram and Toney Jones Jr. balance them out while we wait for the latest injury updates for the day over Thanksgiving.

Does Mark Ingram play on Thursday?

Ingram there is a limited practice session on Wednesday after missing practice on Tuesday, and he’s officially the timekeeper on Thursday night. Alvin Kamara is expected to miss the third game in a row, so Ingram will remain the main defender for New Orleans if he does. Tony Jones Jr will be RB No. 2.

If Ingram plays, this will be a difficult day ahead for the 31-year-old general. Jonathan Taylor put 50 points against them in the Bills, but let’s not overreact here. We can’t let a performance by one great player back to determine how we feel about a game. The Bills are still considered one of the fiercest matches for ball carriers, and it’s no news that Ingram isn’t Taylor. Even though Taylor won 50 plus and Derrick Henry got 30 plus against the Bills, they were still in the top 8 strongest defenses the FPPG allowed.

If Ingram can’t play, Jones Jr will obviously be in a similar situation. For all we know, Jones Jr is the better ball carrier at this point in Ingram’s career, but neither should be viewed as a must-start option. In Jones’ case, we’d all like to play the guy we’ve just been exempted from, but this isn’t the place to do it. That’s not to say you shouldn’t continue to follow him later this year,

Finally, we know many fantasy owners who are forced to play any “start” rerun, so of course there are situations where they will be in the lineup. We place Ingram just outside the top 24 RBs and Jones Jr will likely be in that territory if he is the starter due to Ingram’s absence.
