Documents reveal Officer Memphis sent photos of Nichols . battered tires

Memphis Police Department documents show multiple violations by the five officers now charged with second-degree murder in the death of Nichols tyres. One of those officers, Demetrius Haleysent pictures of a bloody and beaten Tryre to at least five people.

Based on New York Times, The documents were part of an internal investigation into the matter that the MPD used to request the decertification of five officers. If I may, Demetrius, Tadarrius beans, Desmond Mills Jr.., Emmitt Martin IIIAnd Justin Smith won’t be able to serve as an officer anywhere in Tennessee. Officials are said to have not scheduled a hearing since Tuesday.

Demetrius was also the officer who forced Tire out of his car without giving a reason for the stop or arrest. The documents say that Haley admitted to sending photos of Tire injured and handcuffed to a civil department officer, two officers and a female acquaintance. A sixth person received the photo, but it is not clear who sent it.

Tire died three days after being brutally beaten. He is 29 years old – a black father, photographer and skateboarder.

This is what Demetrius Haley did during the arrest of Tire Nichols

Beating videos, each NYT, also shows Demetrius shining a flashlight at Tire, snapping a photo, reviewing his phone’s screen, then snapping another photo. In this case, Tire violated MPD’s policy that prohibits officers from using their personal devices while on patrol.

But Haley had violated another policy before. For starters, after pulling Tire out of the car, Haley tried to spray him with pepper spray while he was lying on the sidewalk. Tire responded by getting up and running away, but an officer fired a stun gun at him. That officer was fired by the department along with Demetrius, Tadarrius, Desmond, Emmitt and Justin.

When the party caught up with Tire, they were said to have beaten him for nearly three minutes. Tire Nichols was less than 100 yards from his mother’s house when this happened.

As for Haley, he arrived at the second scene while the police were handcuffing Tire. Still, he ran forward and landed like a powerful kick to Tire’s upper body.

During her time on the force, Haley faced reprimands for failing to report after grabbing a person’s hand during an arrest in 2021.

Other violations by officers at the scene

MPD requires their employees to activate their body cameras during the process “all law enforcement encounters and activities.” However, Emmitt Martin violated that policy by placing his camera in his car at one point. Meanwhile, none of the police cameras captured the entire stop, arrest and beating process, according to the MPD document.

An officer is said to have refused to give Tire .’s mother “an exact account” of the incident, while others omitted details of the assault in their reports of the incident.

Although two officers claimed Tire tried to take an officer’s gun, the documents say there is no evidence of that. The sheriff also denied officers’ claims that Tire was driving recklessly due to lack of evidence.

Most notable are the documents calling for officers “blatantly unprofessional” conduct during and after hitting Tire, including the use of profanity, ridicule, and abuse. As seen on the bodycam footage, officers from the disbanded Scorpion Unit also laughed and bragged about their involvement in harming Tire.

In addition to the six officers fired, city officials are said to be investigating seven more officers for other policy violations.

Following the beating, the Memphis Fire Department fired three emergency medical technicians. Their statement claims Robert Long, JaMichael SandridgeAnd Lieutenant Michelle Whitakeyour “to act or not to act at the scene” on January 7 did not meet MFD’s expectations.
