Do you live in cat state or dog state?

Which is better – cat or dog?

The debate on this question is perhaps one of the longest of all time, with endlessly varied answers. And after many, many years of discussion, it looks like a newly released poll may have finally settled the arguments.

“It’s a debate as old as man – cat or dog?” “We surveyed more than 3,000 Americans to find out which US states prefer cats to dogs and vice versa,” Time2Play says.

After a poll of 3,045 pet owners in the US, curious folks at Time2Play reported that the answer to this question is BOTH! It turns out that pet lovers are split right in the middle to see which species makes a better pet.

The results of this poll are sorted by state and presented in response to the following question:

Do you live in cat state or dog state?

25 states say they prefer cats, while the remaining 25 states they prefer dogs. Notable cat states include many in the midwest, such as Minnesota, Ohio, and Kentucky. Meanwhile, southern states like Florida, Texas, and Alabama are notable dog breeders.

New York is a cat-driven state that surprised the folks at Time2Play. Formerly considered a great place for cats due to its large number of small apartments and a handful of outdoor playgrounds, New York is now dog-friendly.

In fact, this revelation should come as no surprise, considering the purported efforts of New York officials to make the Big Apple a dog-friendly place to live.

This poll also aims to find the group of pet lovers who have posted about their beloved children on social media the most:

“We asked 3,000 respondents if they posted about their pet on their profile, and what were the results.” said the staff at Time2Play. “53.2% say they post pet photos online, with 46.8% saying no. Of those who said yes, 56.8% were dog people and 43.2% were cat people. Conclusion? Dog lovers are more likely to flood the feed with photos of their dogs. “

By generation-wise, it’s no surprise that Millennials post about their pets the most, followed by Generation Z. The average age of hitters in this study was 38.

Regardless of the results of this data-driven study, it is certain that this debate will continue for years and years to come. The indisputable fact is that no species is better than the other. Both cats and dogs make great companions, although we’re happy to witness the surprising statistics firsthand.

So what’s your verdict? Do you live in cat state or dog state?
