Did you know about this new Photoshop hack for better options?

With each new Photoshop update, the selection tools get more and more sophisticated. However, with the most recent update, there’s a new trick that makes selections as precise as I’ve seen them.

When I first started with Photoshop over 20 years ago, the selection tools weren’t particularly good. Indeed, I rarely use tools like the Lasso Tool or the Polygonal Lasso Tool if I have to make clear, sharp, and precise selections. Instead, I finished with the Pen Tool. In fact, until recently it was my tool of choice and I consider myself pretty good with the Bezier handles and all the nuances that come with using the Pen Tool. However, over the past few years, Photoshop’s accuracy with tools like the Select Object tool has greatly improved, meaning that I now rely much less on the Pen Tool than I did in the past. But in Photoshop’s most recent update, there’s an even better selection method that turns things up a notch or three.

And that brings us to this amazing video by Unmesh Dinda from PiXimperfect, in which he introduces us to the new Select Subject Cloud option for more detailed results. It may sound a bit confusing, but when you select the Select Object tool in Photoshop, there’s now an option in the Choose Subject drop-down menu that lets you choose the device or the cloud. In this video, Dinda walks us through the differences between the two and demonstrates how accurate the options can be when choosing a cloud option. He tries it on different images, such as images with busy backgrounds, images with animals and pets, images with hair, and others. It’s a great new addition and really makes selecting elements quick and fun. Watch the video and let me know what you think.
