Detailed Ford Everest 2022 specifications

The Ford Everest 2022 is set to be the Australian torquiest-based SUV on sale when it arrives locally in Australia in August 2022.

Based on the new generation forest ranger Oval, Blue Oval has confirmed Everest will provide a 3.0 liter V6 turbo-diesel manufacturing 184kW power and 600Nm torque – in Sport and Platinum trim levels.

For context, a turbo-diesel V6 engine is fitted Everest Moutain generates 170Nm more torque than Mitsubishi Pajero Sport150Nm more than Isuzu MU-Xand 100Nm more than Toyota Fortuner and best seller Prado.

Unlike the Ranger, the Australian-developed and Thai-origin Everest is only available with a full-time four-wheel drive system on request with a two-speed electromechanical transfer case.

It also has selectable driving modes, built-in trailer brake control available, more interior tech, and a plug-in hybrid-ready architecture – though there’s no PHEV option yet. .

Ford has confirmed the new generation Everest has a maximum brake pull of 3500kg over the entire range. Loads up to 741kggross vehicle mass (GVM) up to 3150kgand the total combined mass (GCM) is 6250kg over the entire range.

All variants of the Everest are available with seven seats. It is optional for Entry Level Environments and standard across the rest of the range.

The new generation Ford Everest is expected to be available in the country a month after the heavyweight Ranger Raptor equipped with a 3.0-liter EcoBoost twin-turbo petrol engine.

At this stage there is no Everest Raptor imagined by customers with a lack of interest that prevented the project from starting.

Talk to CarExpert Earlier in 2022, Ian Foston, Ford’s T6 platform chief engineer, said the lack of demand meant the company didn’t spend much time on the idea when asked if the Everest Raptor had legs.

Currently, Ford has not confirmed the price for the new generation Everest SUV. We will update these stories once they are published.

Engine

The 2022 Ford Everest is available with two turbo-diesel powertrains: a 2.0-liter twin-turbo four-cylinder and a 3.0-liter V6. Both of these engines are available on the Ranger.

Standards on trim levels Environment and Trends are familiar 2.0 liter Bi-Turbo four-cylinder engine manufacturing 154kW power and 500Nm of torque. This power is 3kW less than the Everest, while the torque remains constant.

This is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and is available in full-time or rear-wheel drive configurations. This Bi-Turbo Ranger is only available with part-time four-wheel drive.

Standard on Sport and Platinum is new 3.0 liter V6 . turbo-diesel engine manufacturing 184kW and 600Nm. This is also mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission, with a full-time four-wheel drive system.

Features 4 × 4

Unlike the Ranger, the Everest is only available with full-time four-wheel drive with a two-speed electromechanical transmission that comes in 2H, 4H and 4L modes, plus a 4A automatic that can be used on surfaces surface with high traction like paved road.

This 4A mode, when selected, can continuously distribute power between the front and rear axles for “optimal operation in all road conditions”. It basically works like an all-wheel drive car in the 4A.

There’s also an electronically locked rear differential on all-wheel drive models that can be activated via the infotainment touchscreen.

All 4×4 variants of the Everest also receive an ‘e-shifter’ gear selector instead of a traditional mechanical gear selector.

Depending on the Everest variant, there are multiple driving modes that change the vehicle’s throttle response, gearshift, traction control and ABS. These include the following:

  • Normal
  • Ecological
  • Tow / Haul
  • Slippery
  • Mud / Ruts
  • Sand

Standard on all 4×4 models other than the Entry-Level Environment is an ‘Off-Road Monitor’ (ORS) which can display the following information:

  • Driveline and electronic differential lock indicator
  • Steering angle
  • Vehicle angle and rolling angle
  • Off-road feature button

An ambient view camera, which is standard on the flagship Platinum and optional on the Trend 4×4 and Sport, can also be interacted with in this ORS.

Energy saving

Ford has yet to detail official fuel economy figures for the new-generation Everest, but says all powertrains meet Euro 5 emissions standards.

Idle start is also standard across the range.

Size

Ford has yet to reveal the exterior dimensions and launch figures of the new-generation Everest, but the new Ranger has a 50mm longer wheelbase and 50mm wider track than the old Ranger.

Blue Oval has confirmed maximum brake drag for the entire Everest range, including 4×2 variants, as 3500kg.

Maximum load up to 741kggross vehicle mass (GVM) up to 3150kgand the total combined mass (GCM) is 6250kg over the entire range.

In Ford factory towbar equipped vehicles, there is a trailer cover system that allows you to set the length of the trailer you are towing. It supports variable length from 2.4 meters to 10 meters long.

This system takes the length of the trailer trailer and adjusts the sensitivity of the blind spot assist.

The optional Tow Pack also includes an integrated brake controller.

All Everest versions feature a Tow/Haul drivetrain that optimizes gearshifts to maintain the best power distribution and engine braking, as well as reducing the ‘busy’ of shifting when towing.

For has yet to list service intervals and pricing for the new-generation Everest, but is expected to feature a five-year, unlimited-kilometer warranty.
