Deontay Wilder Ready to Face Oleksandr Usyk “In A Heartbeat”

Let’s face it – this will create some kind of war. Former WBC heavyweight Deontay Wilder, probably the strongest boxer in history, compared to the WBA walking, talking, IBF and WBO heavyweight title Oleksandr Usyk is not a proposition. extremely attractive. Will Wilder’s sometimes crude style be brought into school by chess player Usyk? Or a single shot – and that’s all Wilder needed – to send Usyk into dreamland? These types of questions make for a solid pair of loops. And, as of Thursday, Wilder seems ready, willing and able to make the fight go.

Of course, Usyk is tipped to take on Wilder conqueror Tyson Fury on April 29 in London for the undisputed heavyweight championship of the world. However, that match was canceled within the last 24 hours before it could resume. However, the truth is that Usyk is said to be quite upset with Fury and his team at the moment. He is said to want Fury’s titles (WBC and linear) but he will likely end up in negotiations. The reality at this point is that Fury-Usyk most likely won’t happen by the end of April, or perhaps never. That leaves an opportunity for American Wilder to hit hard.

“If the Usyk fight were available,” Shelly Finkle, Wilder’s manager, told Sports sky. “Deontay will get it in a heartbeat.” Of course, a Usyk-Wilder fight, though intriguing, would be by no means guaranteed, even without Fury. Big fights are hard – really hard – to do these days. That fact is proven not only by the red tape that threatens to keep Fury and Usyk out of the ring, but also by the uncomfortable barriers that are holding back the welterweight showdown between defending champions Errol Spence and Terence Crawford . As the recently signed upcoming super fight between Gervonta Davis and Ryan Garcia shows, however, big fights CAN be done when the fighters involved are passionate enough about it.

With all that said, Usyk has a mandatory fight with David Dubois for the WBA title if the Fury fight isn’t done by April 1. EQUAL Sports sky however, pointed out that Dubois was injured in his last ring fight, a December 2022 victory over Kevin Lerena. Money always talks in boxing – and Usyk-Wilder is sure to be a big fight. Probably not as big as the battle with Fury for being undisputed, but pretty big nonetheless.
