Deontay Wilder borrowed lines from Tyson Fury to mock Eddie Hearn
Deontay Wilder is back in heavyweight bout, and he’s brought with him his signature trash talk.
In some quick questions on the podcast The Last Stand, ‘Copper Bomber was asked the first thing that popped into his mind when the name Eddie Hearn was mentioned. He has three words for the Matchroom CEO.
“BOOOOOOO – buddies!”
It seems that Wilder has been referred to as a ‘five-year-old’ by his opponent, Tyson Fury, so many times that the word is starting to rub off on him. He even has a (problematic) British accent to go with it.
As for his relationship with Hearn, it’s unclear if the pair have ever actually met, but that doesn’t stop them from having history.
Wilder and Anthony Joshua has been a fight long awaited by fans, and at one point in the not-so-distant past it was crowned an undisputed heavyweight champion. There were certainly attempts, but whether it happens is another story entirely.
The Americans were made an offer of $100 million for a three-fight deal on DAZN in March 2019. Those three fights would include two with ‘AJ’. The WBC champion then ultimately declined, citing the offer as ‘dishonest.’ He spoke to BoxingScene.com at the time.
“I didn’t do the DAZN deal because the people representing DAZN were coming in with an unanswered and honest offer to me. They came back and apologized to us. They know they’re wrong… Money won’t be the driving force of everything. I bet on myself. Anyway, I make more money than what they are offering. “
“They were dishonest in the information provided and who was getting what. I feel that they are hesitant to give us feedback. They don’t want to release information, and it’s very important information that we need to make a decision.”
With both suffering losses on their last outing, controversy is back around. Again, it seems to have fallen to the first hurdle.
Wilder is now on his way back against Robert Helenius in October, and Joshua is rumored to be going up against former American rival Fury – so there is still a chance for their paths to cross. If that day comes, Wilder can send a message directly to Hearn.
