ENGLEWOOD, Colo. – Dancer broncos Coach Nathaniel Hackett knew the clock had struck midnight on his – and his team’s – season’s early clock management issue.
He said on Monday he and his staff met on the topic that morning and will continue the review in the evening.
“We have to make sure communications are clear and concise,” says Hackett.
The Broncos have moved to 1-1 after Sunday 16-9 wins via Houston Texas – Hackett’s first regular win as head coach of the team – but the team’s start was marred by constant troubles with the game clock and penalties.
The Broncos have been rated four penalty delays this season, including twice in the win over the Texans in on-field scoring attempts, and they used the final timeout of the second half. on Sunday with 7 minutes, 38 seconds left in the game because they couldn’t organize.
They also used the timeout in the second half when they had no return Montrell Washington on the field – with only 10 players on the squad – as the Texans prepared to play. At one point on Sunday, things took a turn for the worse as the Broncos got the ball in the fourth inning, the crowd at Empower Field at Mile High counting down the game clock every time it approached zero.

Hackett, who added that he plans to keep calling duties, said he and his staff also looked at how many people were communicating with him on the headset at the same time. He also said that he has appreciated every time, as an offensive dispatcher, when he is on the other side of conversations when the playing clock has moved.
“It’s funny looking back on my time in the past and the conversations going on, you always had an opinion and it’s interesting that now your opinion, your decision, That’s what’s important,'” Hackett said. And I just want to make sure I’m as efficient as possible and communicate in the best way that I can, and up until this point, I haven’t done that and I can do a lot better. .. it’s definitely a challenge and it’s something to embrace… and I just want to get better. ”
