After one of the more successful years of his career associated with the Hall of Fame, Canelo Alvarez is said to be sifting through multiple offers.

According to ESPN’s Mike Coppinger, Alvarez is considering two separate deals. PBC’s Al Haymon has extended a one-match deal with Alvarez to face current WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo in May on Cinco De Mayo over the weekend on pay-per-view. Soon after, Alvarez was reported to have offered a two-fight deal to WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol, followed by a third against longtime rival Gennadiy Golovkin.

Considering how much Alvarez earned for his most recent pay-per-view event, 11-round win over Caleb Plant, David Benavidez believes Alvarez will continue to take on PBC-related boxers. stable.

“If you look at the deals he was offered,” Benavidez said in an interview with FightHype.com. “A two-match deal with DAZN without pay-per-view, or a fight deal with PBC with pay-per-view, that’s a no-brainer. I think Canelo loves that pay-per-view. “

According to multiple reports, Alvarez earned around $35 million for his round of 16 stoppage time win over Billy Joe Saunders on DAZN in May. For his pay-per-view match with Plant, Alvarez reportedly pocketed upwards of $40 million, plus a pay-per-view boost.

Outside of the financial ramifications, Benavidez finds the showdown between Houston’s Alvarez and Charlo an intriguing one. The prolific fighter has longed to take on Alvarez and has repeatedly stated that he has the strength, size and overall ability to deliver star-balanced fights.

The now 31-year-old middleweight champion has dominated throughout his reign. Most recently, Charlo scored the decisive goal quite wide against Juan Macias Montiel. However, despite Charlo holding a perfect record across 32 career matches, Benavidez believes facing Alvarez is something else entirely.

Over the past several months, both Charlo and Benavidez have hurled warning shots at each other, with the 25-year-old urging Charlo to face him in the ring. Although Benavidez is keen to take on Charlo at some point, he admits that the WBC middleweight is an excellent fighter.

As for how this matchup is going, however, Benavidez doubts their matchup is more likely to end up explosively, with Alvarez raising his hand in victory.

“Charlo has been a great champion,” continued Benavidez. “It was a great fight for boxing. A fight with Charlo would be a tougher fight than Canelo has had in a while, but I wouldn’t be surprised if Canelo beat Charlo either. I think it’s more likely that Canelo knocks out Charlo than Charlo takes out Canelo.”
