• Background: Izmailov and Foster top the card that takes place every year in the International Boxing Hall of Fame weekend touch in upstate New York. Izmailov, 30, formerly a top Russian amateur athlete, currently trains with John David Jackson in Detroit. His handlers believe the slick puncher has the talent to rise to the top of the league. He last fought in March, when he stopped cruiser Marcelo Ruben Molilna in the first round. Foster was Izmailov’s toughest test, at least on paper. The 33-year-old from Connecticut is also a successful amateur but his professional career has yet to be successful. He has taken a 3-0 lead since he returned from a two-year break during the COVID pandemic, including the knockout of journeyman Rafael Fernandez Sosa in the sixth round this past December. . He stopped four of his last five opponents.
