Danse Macabre Eyes Starts at Belmont, Kentucky Downs

Elements Racing and NBS Stable’s Impressive Mamzelle Overnight Stakes Winner Scary Danse will aim for a potential start at Belmont Park in seven-part Soaring Softly Stakes (G3T) on May 27, with the long-term goal of returning Kentucky Downs.

The stout 3-year-old boy coached by Kelsey Danner has yet to finish after seven starts. She added a 2 1/4 long score in the 5 1/2 week long Mamzelle before beating the 3rd place winner American apple via Churchill Downs pitch. She earned her first graded company win on March 4 in the Herecomesthebride Stakes (G3T) at a mile Gulfstream Park. Her record is 4-2-1 with earnings of $666,740.

Elements Racing’s Steve Smith said: “I’m a bit uncertain about cutting that far because that race has a lot of speed. “We have raked out of Limestone (Stakes, at Keeneland) just because of hole 12. I actually prefer Limestone, but coming from hole 12 only gives you problems.

“When she took off (in the Mamzelle), she took off. They couldn’t take her down… I wasn’t shocked but I was surprised she won with so many open spaces. (Jockey) Adam (Beschizza) says he’s waiting to feel them coming but he can’t hear them.”

Daughter of army mule This is her first win in NBS orange and black silk, which has become a joke for relationships as her only loss came when she wore them instead of colored ones. Element’s blue and pink.

Danse Macabre is nominated for Soaring Softly but could move on to another race further away. Smith said the ultimate goal will be to run in Racecourse Saratoga and then back to the Kentucky Downs in September, where the chubby girl won her first bet last year in Untapable Stakes.

“(Kelsey and I) were talking about strategy where to go with this dirty girl and we had Soaring Softly at Belmont pre-written, but that’s if she ran in Limestone,” Smith said. “We’re two weeks into the season. We’ve only got three weeks off, so we’re a bit uncertain, but she’s made it through the race. She hasn’t missed a single one. which beat.

“The Caress (Stakes, G3T) will be our target (in Saratoga) because this is a classified race and that’s where we want to keep her in the classified company. But of course, the picture The bigger picture will be getting to the Kentucky Downs for the Mint Ladies Sprint… For us, our feeling with our racehorses is that the horse comes first and we want to protect it, we don’t. want to get over it. But that means, if we also take its races far, she exercises in her booth. When she’s sharp, she’s sharp,” he said with a laugh. .
