Dallas Daniels brought his Estenson Racing Yamaha MT-07 DT to victory this weekend at the new Ventura Short Road event, as it joins the American Flat Track for the 2023 season.
Kody Kopp is the AFT Singles winner meanwhile, also marking his third win of the season, while Aussie Max Whale just slipped the podium in fourth, and Tom Drane went home in seventh. .
Max Whale – P4
“Today started great and the track was unreal with loads of passing chances, it was exciting. I had a bit of a rough day, and got into trouble in the Heat, which put me in second row and left me a bit disappointed in myself, even though I fought hard in tonight’s Main Event for P4. I’m working hard, the team working harder, so Sacramento in a weekend. Let’s go!”

In contrast to his double win streak at the DAYTONA double opening, Kopp was pushed to the brink by a hungry Chase Saathoff (Honda/Mission Foods CRF450R US No. 88) under the lights at Ventura Raceway .
After some hectic early laps, the two escaped Saathoff’s Turner Racing teammates, Morgen Mischler (No. 13 American Honda / Mission Foods CRF450R) and Trent Lowe (No. 48 American Honda / Mission Foods CRF450R). From that point on, the race became a battle of two drivers for the top titles.
While Kopp controlled much of the tense game from the front, the Honda pilot threw in some late weeders, including a cross, slip and cross double lead change that left fans standing Wake up when the clock is less than 30 seconds.
But the encore of the final round wasn’t on the card, as a small Saathoff moment with two rounds remaining allowed Kopp enough air to power the checkered flag without the need for fireworks.
Kody Kopp
“Chase is a formidable opponent. He was my fiercest rival and competitor growing up in the 85s, 250s and 450s. Man, it was probably the most fun race I’ve ever been in – we were equal. together. I hope it’s an interesting thing to see.
Mischler held off Kopp’s leading teammate, Max Whale (No. 18 Red Bull KTM Factory Racing 450 SX-F), to claim a second straight podium, while Trevor Brunner of Estenson Racing Yamaha (No. 21 Estenson) Racing Yamaha YZ450F) strikes his way up to fifth after taking the lead in ninth.
Winner Dallas Lowe finished sixth, while Brunner’s Estenson Racing Yamaha teammate Tom Drane (no 59 Estenson Racing Yamaha YZ450F), was seventh. Cole Frederickson (No. 151 Lehmann Racing/Miller Tree Service Honda CRF450R) was eighth, followed by Justin Jones (No. 91 NRC Racing/Elder Trucking KTM 450 SX-F).
Kopp’s closest title challenger, Dalton Gauthier (No. 79 D&D Racing / KTM 450 SX-F certified) was the final driver in the top 10. That allowed Kopp to take advantage of his 19-point lead. (127-108) with Whale third with 102 and Saathoff fourth with 97.

Super Twin Quest
Progressive American Flat Track rising star Dallas Daniels’ dream season (no 32 Estenson Racing Yamaha MT-07 DT) continues with his convincing win in the inaugural Ventura Short Track Saturday night at the Road. Ventura race in Ventura, California.
Just as impressive as he was a year ago as the S&S Cycle rookie-presented Mission Super Twin, Daniels has taken his game to the next level in 2023. The prodigious teen has lasted. First streak and spotless seconds this season with a calm and controlled performance. Route to the top step of the box at the beautiful location adjacent to the ocean.
Daniels’ teammate, JD Beach (Number 95 Estenson Racing Yamaha MT-07 DT), crossed the first line but held the spot for less than a quick spin of the 1/5 mile clay oval . Beach did a great job of keeping Daniels honest after falling to second and even at one point getting him back.
The title leader’s unrelenting perfection gradually added up to a near one-second advantage by the time the Main Event had seven minutes left, with defending champion Jared Mees (Indian No. 1 Motorcycle/Rogers Racing// Racing SDI FTR750) is significantly further back in third place.
Just when the podium order seemed only academic, the red flag reset occurred after Brandon Robinson (No. 44 Mission Roof Systems Indian FTR750) had the worst accordion-style crash that damaged it The battle between many riders for fourth place.
Jarod Vanderkooi (No. 20 JMC Motorsports/Fairway Ford Indian FTR750) crashed into the back of Johnny Lewis (No. 10 Moto Anatomy X Powered by Royal Enfield 650), leading directly to Robinson toppling. The fallen Robinson was then interrupted by Sammy Halbert (No. 69 Dodge Bros. Racing / Martin Trucking Harley-Davidson XR750), forcing the action to stop.
But even after Beach, Mees and the field were given a second chance, little has changed ahead after the staggered reboot. Daniels simply returned to accumulate his advantage, eventually claiming his third win of the year along with three runners-up.
Beach finished Estenson Racing Yamaha 1-2, while Mees took the podium score on a night he never really felt at home on the track.
Likewise, two-time Grand National champion Briar Bauman (No. 3 Division Plus / Jacob Jacob’s Company KTM 890 Duke) finished fourth after finishing in ninth place early.
Lewis holds the second of the season’s top five in fifth, closely followed by Halbert and Bauman’s younger brother, Bronson Bauman (No. 37 Fastrack Racing / 2 Wheelz KTM 890 Duke).
Kolby Carlile (No. 36 G&G Racing/Yamaha Racing Yamaha MT-07) achieved the best results of the season in eighth place, while Davis Fisher (No. 67 Rackley Racing/BMC Racing Indian FTR750 by Bob Lanphere) and Vanderkooi finished. in the top ten.
As a result of his third win of his sophomore campaign, Daniels tightened his grip in the title fight. He was 24 points ahead of Mees (138-114) in the third half of the season, while Beach took the lead over Bauman in third (97-94).
